Which City Has the Worst Roads in North America? Nokian Tyres is Asking Drivers

Drivers are invited to vote for their cities on social media and at NokianTires.com/Potholes

DAYTON, Tenn. – Which city has the worst roads in North America? Nokian Tyres is asking drivers to vote as part of a new consumer campaign aimed at illustrating the dangers of potholes – and the importance of having the right tires.

According to a March report from the American Society of Civil Engineers, 43 percent of roads in the U.S. are in poor or mediocre condition. That costs drivers more than $130 billion each year in repairs and other expenses.

This time of year, potholes are a primary culprit. They often develop suddenly as roads freeze and thaw to create cracks in their surfaces. To help resist the dangers caused by potholes and other road hazards, Nokian Tyres makes tires infused with Aramid, the same material puncture-resistant fiber found in bulletproof vests.

Drivers are invited to visit @NokianTyresNA on Facebook or Instagram to vote for their roads in a pothole bracket. Eight cities will face off on the first round, and drivers based in other cities can make their cases at NokianTires.com/Potholes. First-round matchups on social media include Boston versus New York, Portland versus Seattle, Montreal versus Vancouver and Chicago versus Detroit.

U.S.-based entrants on the pothole website will be eligible to win a set of Nokian Tyres One tires, which come with a Pothole Protection warranty, or a set of the Nokian Tyres One HT, a light truck and SUV tire with Aramid embedded beneath the tire’s tread for ultimate puncture resistance.

Nokian Tyres’ pothole page also offers helpful driving safety information and details about ways its new tires help protect drivers from potholes and other road hazards. The Nokian Tyres One’s Pothole Protection warranty stipulates that if a tire is damaged beyond repair by a pothole or road hazard, the company will replace it for free.*

The pothole campaign launches Tuesday, March 16 and lasts through Friday, April 9. Consumers can visit Nokian Tyres’ social media channels or NokianTires.com/Potholes to access the campaign. In addition to hosting the pothole bracket, the company’s Facebook and Instagram pages will also offer engaging content aimed at informing followers about driving safety.
