Nokian Customer Testimonials

"I've just come back from the Tyre Shop, having ordered a set of WRG2's for my son's car and wanted to reach out to Nokian with some comments. This is my 5th set of Nokian Tires in the past 5 years or so.

My first comment regards the dealership through which I have purchased all my tires. This would be Kal Tire at 340 Pembina Highway in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada. Kal Tire is one of the few companies I have found that truly provide service beyond the level that consumers have come to expect lately. Most companies talk about their service, but don't seem to provide it. Kal Tire on the other hand provides the service without boasting, and the service is always top notch. It was this relationship with Kal Tire – and the manager at the time Verne, that made it easy for me to accept Verne's recommendation that I should consider Nokian's Hakkapeliitta model for my Durango to replace a set of old Toyo All Season type tires.

The performance of these tires was remarkable, and perhaps best exemplified through my then 18 year olds first comment "These tires make it too hard to fish tail around corners". That says it all - I was looking for something safe for my family, and on his first trip my son confirmed that Verne had steered me in the proper direction.

I was so impressed with Nokian that I decided to replace the tires on my other Durango as well even though they appeared to have a few good miles left. Our family typically has several vehicles  in service, so storage space for extra tires is an issue. Once again I turned to Verne for advice. He suggested WRG2 as an all year alternative, so I went with those. It's difficult to really compare the performance of the tires between the two Durangos, but I felt the WRG2 tires were nearly as good in severe winter conditions. I noticed an immediate improvement in any winter conditions over the previous tires, so once again I was happy with my choice. When my wife replaced her car a couple of years later I immediately wanted to replace the tires. They are a low profile "Performance" tire that had poor handling characteristics in the snow.

She wanted to keep the tires she had until a short time later she had an unrepairable flat and I replaced all the tires with WRG2s . She commented that the WRG2 tires provided her with much better handling and control in winter conditions. We purchased a 2008 Avenger a little over a year ago that still had the factory tires on it, with about 35000 KMs driven. Shortly afterward one of the tires had a puncture too close to the sidewall to be repaired safely. Next stop was Kal Tire to get another set of WRG2 tires.

My eldest son (the one who complained that he couldn't make the truck fish tail as easily) has since purchased a car and the All Season tires that are on it need to be replaced, so he asked me to shop around for him and find the best deal. Although he liked the Nokian tires his budget is limited. I did some checking around and did manage to find some possible alternatives at a lower cost than the Nokian tires. This morning as I drove by the Kal tire shop I did what I should have done in the first place. I went in to talk to Danny(Verne is now located elsewhere) and bought a set of WRG2s for my son's car. His budget and tire choice may be limited to less expensive tires, but for me the safety of my family trumps everything.

In the last 5 years I have spent around 5000.00 on tires, but it's a small price to pay for the feeling that the tires on our vehicle
will not let us down. Perhaps it will be a while before I have to buy more tires, but when my other two sons purchase cars I will be sure that they ride on Nokians too. There may be other great tires out there somewhere, but I think I'll stick with the ones I know and trust. I'm a Nokian "Lifer".

Thank You Nokian!"

"I just thought I would share with you a story. Last week I purchased a set of eNTYRES for my VW Golf the day before a road trip. (I’d had a fantastic experience with Nokian tyres some years back on a previous car). I am not an aggressive driver, and I was mainly concerned with wet grip.  Since I use snow tires, I was looking for the “H”, but since it was not immediately available and reviews on the eNTYRE were so positive, I purchased them.
The first day of my trip I glanced at my directions and looked up to find that the car ahead of me had rapidly braked on a highway in order to make a U-turn through a construction site. I had to brake hard, and fully expected to spin-out or have to choose between driving off the road or hitting the car ahead. Amazingly, after a slight swerve (I didn’t even notice the ABS which has a tendency to be abrupt and cause tire slippage when it kicks in) the car decelerated politely, sure-footedly, and in a perfectly straight line. Wow!
Two days later as I accelerated into an intersection on a rain-slick and rough country road, an oncoming car flashed in front of me, attempting a left turn through the just-changed red light. As I depressed the brakes I was already hearing metal on metal – I would have struck him amidships. I was amazed when my car stopped on a dime, this time in much more challenging road conditions.
As far as I am concerned, the eNTYRE potentially saved my life twice in the first three days of ownership! Thank you."

"We have a fleet of five company vehicles we use to support customers at 800 companies throughout New England, from Lakeville, Connecticut to Newport, Vermont to Van Buren, Maine.  We've found Nokian Hakkapeliitta snow tires to be a good investment. They provide remarkable traction on wet, icy, or snowy roads so our employees arrive safely and on-time. The low rolling resistance of the Hakkapeliitta R yields noticeably better fuel economy over competitors. And we always get one or two additional more seasons of use compared to competing brands.

After good results with the Nokian WR, we now have two vehicles using the Nokian all-weather WRG2 tires year-round. The WRG2 may be the ideal tire for New England weather conditions."

"I thought it was worth following up with you, now that I have these tires mounted and installed.  They are easily the best tires I have owned, summer or winter.  The traction on all surface conditions is simply amazing - snow, slush, ice, even wet pavement.  What I'm most astounded by, is the lack of noise these produce even on bare roads.  I was honestly worried they were going to be overwhelmingly loud, but to my surprise, you can't even tell they are different than regular winter tires.  Best decision I've made in a long time." "5 yrs ago I bought a set of Hakkapeliittas for my 04 RSX. Well it was the best money I ever spent. They have saved my behind on too many instances to remember. I have driven them on all roads, gravel, asphalt, ice (once on a lake) and snow covered to black ice conditions. By the way, after 4 3/4 winters there has to be at least 95-98% of the studs left. Not many have come out. I love my Nokian's and tell all my friends to stop wasting money on winter tires and start investing in Nokian's."

"After driving on 2 sets of WR's on my '02 Yukon 4WD for 5 years, my tire salesman talked me into trying the WRG2's. I was hesitant to switch as I had had such great service out of the WR's.
I decided to try them. I have now driven the WRG2s through every type of road condition; extremely wet roads, heavy slush, light snow, ice, snow covered ice and deep snow. I've got to tell you, in all cases the WRG2's performed as if they were on dry pavement! There was minimal to no slippage on acceleration, even hard acceleration, tracking through large puddles and slush is excellent, and stopping is incredible. I can hardly get the antilock brakes to engage even on ice!
I am glad I switched to the WRG2. They have proven themselves to be a better tire than the WR. My hat is off to you and your R&D department; you have hit the mark with this tire. Thank you."

"Hallmark tires recommended me a set of 4 WRG2 tire for my wife's Toyota Matrix. What a major improvement to driving in the ice and snow. Thanks Nokian! I am thoroughly satisfied. Good job for doing such a design. Now my daughter has a set on her Ford Focus also. I am planning to install a set for my son's Ford Escort in 2009 and the 2010 for my Land Rover. Then we will be a complete Nokian family."

"Hello. I just wanted to let you know I was very pleasantly surprised by the WRG2's during Portland OR's recent ice/snow storms.
There were any number of vehicles slipping and sliding on the icy roads. Oregon Department of Transportation mandated chains for most of the roads.
I did not know of the chain mandate and was out on those roads with my Subaru Forester and WRG2's. Happily, the Forester had no trouble on hills that a number of cars were skidding to the bottom of.
These are the first "all season" tires I have owned that actually live up to being "All Seasons". They have also improved the Forester's ride , lowered the noise levels, and have not caused any problems with handling."

"I bought some different snow tires after having Nokians and I have to say that the Nokians were a lot better in snow and on ice, offering a lot more stability and a LOT less slipping. I think I got spoiled driving on them for the past few years!"

"I bought a set of your Hakkapeliitta LT's for my 2 wheel drive Mazda B3000 pickup. I've always had trouble with traction in the winter, but with these tires I am amazed at how well they work. My truck sticks to the road and its handling is very predictable. I never felt safe when bringing passengers along with me in the winter but now I feel confident in bringing my expecting wife along with me. I will never buy another brand of snow tires. Actually I am going to try your summer tires as well...I’m sure they're going to perform just as well. Thank you Nokian for making a wonderful product. I love driving in the snow now!!!"

"On November3, 2008 I purchased a set of four Nokian tires from Kal Tire in Albert Edmonton . On November 5, 2008 I drove to Manitoba from Edmonton. At Brandon Manitoba I ran into a winter storm which left the roads a sheet of ice. I want you to know I have never owned such a good set of tires. They had a feel of security in the way they gripped the road. I never once slid or swerved even though there were cars and semi-trailers in the ditch all around me. Thank you so much for these great tires! I will highly recommend them to my friends."

"I love my Nokian Tyres.  I bought my first set of  Nokian "all weather" 3 years ago and just bought my second set (WRG2). I drive a Toyota Sienna 2 wheel drive minivan.  Last year we had an unexpected Snow/ice storm in the Willamette Valley in Oregon.  As I am going up the hill without any slippage, others are sliding down the hill beside me.  Even those in big 4 wheel drive vehicles and big tires.  Here I am in my little old van just holding steady.
I drive about 35 miles every day to work down the I-5 freeway and it can be treacherous in the rain (and we get lots!), but I never hydroplane.  As another bonus, I don't have to worry anymore about the long lines to get snow tires put on when the first winter storm hits.  My tires are all year around!
Thank you for giving me such a peace of mind when I drive to and from work. "
