The only choice for a true All-weather Tire!

Living in New England, I see pretty drastic changes in weather throughout the year.(20+ Inch snowstorms, ice, torrential rain and flooding, and even some 90 plus sunny days) the WRG3s handle whatever Mother Nature throws at them with confidence and ease. I initially got these in the winter because my previous all-season mud and snow tires made my car feel like a death trap. Once I switched to the Nokians I felt extremely safe driving these tire even in the most icy and snowy conditions. I can also say that I have driven these on 80 plus degree days and while they are louded than a normal tire they don't excessively wear or feel obnoxiously spongey. With that said I'll trade turning up the radio a bit in the summer for feeling completely confident in the winter any day.

    Great tires for a Prius

This tire is a wonderful match to a fuel efficient vehicle like the Toyota Prius. Very low rolling resistance keeps the fuel mileage high while giving a secure quiet ride with great response even in high summer temperatures. I must say that these tires are the perfect solution to my year round driving conditions here in the lower mainland of British Columbia. Winter does visit here on occasion, but normally many wet months with lots of rain and early morning icy conditions that change very quickly. Without consistent harsh winter weather to deal with, road crews don`t do the greatest job of clearing the mess up as they really don`t invest in a lot of snow removal equipment. When it does snow, it is an adventure and rarely lasts for more than a week, but you go from ice and frozen slush to wet gloop and back to ice on a daily basis until the rains return. The WRG3`s were made for this place with it`s mix of weather and hilly terrain. Way better choice than leaving a dedicated winter tire on for 6 months in case of snow, the WRG3`s have you covered with a tire that I plan to keep on all year since they love or rain and summer just as much as the odd snowfall. As I drive around 20,000 kms per year with my WRG3`s having roughly a lifespan of 100,000 kms, they will get replaced just when I wish to; 5-6 years on tires regardless of tread left.

This is the 3rd set of Nokian WRs I've run on a Toyota 4Runner and I doubt I'll ever buy anything else. These are hands-down the best tires ever. Long lasting and extremely effective at handing the harsh winter conditions of Northern New England. They cut right through snow & ice and the ride is smooth. Safe, fluid handling...seriously, the best!

I live in Colorado and had my WRG3 tires installed on my 2012 Suzuki Kizashi Sport SLS with AWD size 225/45r18 on Saturday which was sunny beautiful 70 degrees. I drove around in the warm pavement to see how the tires would handle and how much noise they would make. If there were any doubts I had about the WRG3 its the warm weather capabilites, and let me just say now the tires felt like I had on high performance summer tires. The tires respond without delay. Cornering grip and traction are amazing. When they say the tires have low rolling resistance, boy they weren't kidding. During many long stretches on the avenue I barely had to push on the gas pedal. Today it snowed and was below 30 degrees. There were icy patches on the roads, slick and slushy as well which was no problem for the WRG3. Lane changes in the wet cold slushy pavement were a breeze. I felt completely safe and secure. The tires felt amazing and were extremely quiet. In the warm day the tires were a bit noisy if you drive with the windows down at 55mph or higher but just roll up the windows and you cant hear them at all. Overall these tires are amazing.

I have been driving for over 42 years and always had the best tires money can buy on every vehicle I ever owned. I drive in the Northeast on every type of road condition there is. I always thought Michelin and Bridgestone put out good quality tires for the different seasons, and in most cases they do a good job. This past Tuesday for the first time I put a set of WR G 3 on my Subaru Forester, next day we had 8 inches of snow. It was like driving on a summer day in the country. They are without question the best tire in the world. Unbelievable the stopping grip, acceleration with these tires. So far I have driven on snow, ice, slushy roads and dry roads.. WOW they are so good. I have finally found the tire that will be on all my vehicles from now on. Thank you NOKIAN…. If I could I would give more stars.

Although I'm very happy with the performance of the tires, they have a very high road noise level, loudest of any tire I've used on my 2003 VW Eurovan. The Michelin's I used in the past didn't have as good a wet grip as the Nokian's, BUT they were quieter.

The performance of these tires in the dry, wet, snow, slush and ice is simply amazing, and the fact that you never have to swap them when the seasons change is even more amazing. Yes, you do have to adjust your driving when the weather changes, but, in my humble opinion, these tires are as good as good as any pure winter tires I've ever had -- and I've tried them all over 40 years of living at a Colorado ski resort.

Before I even bought these tires I stalked the internet looking fir negative reviews. They were few and far between. The biggest complaints were road noise, and that they did not perform as well as dedicated snow tires. If road noise is your primary concern instead of safety, you might want to rethink your priorities. These were never meant to compete with dedicated snow tires. They were meant to compete (and blow away) all season tires from any manufacturer. I put these on a 2004 Honda CR-V AWD and it transformed into a fearless winter machine. To me form shoulf follow function, and I could care less about a little increased road noise when I just want to survive the commute. Taking into consuderation the majority of motorists do not see the wisdom in having winter tires the added manuverability these tires provide can make all the difference. There is also a profound decrease in effort to get the Honda moving from a stop. Low rolling resistance indeed. But unlike most people I do opt to save these for fall and winter driving. If you want better control in suburban and urban winter conditions, this is your tire. If you live in perpetual winter, Hakka's. The only company which competes with Nokian, is Nokian.

I've had 3 sets of these tires and while very happy with the winter traction they all wore out at about 40,000 kl. I've done some research and found that these tires are actually just snow tires and as such will wear out quickly if driven in the summer. What the tire dealers are doing is taking a winter tire, calling it an all weather, and charging more money for it. Here's some more food for thought on this subject, if "all weather" tires actually do exist why haven't manufacturers such as Michelin, Bridgestone, Firestone etc not built one yet? From what I understand they don't want to get involved and Michelin has responded by simply putting a mileage warranty on their snow tires. If you have or are planning to buy these tires make sure you keep the invoice and note the mileage, you will need it for inevitable warranty which means you'll have to pay the difference, tax, and labour, making these tires even more expensive then they started out to be.

I've been using these tires for 2 weeks in Edmonton, and I'm disappointed. Other reviews say they're good in snow, but my winter tires that are worn out enough to replace were better in snow than these. These are the first time I've tried using all-weather tires in snow, so they could be better than alternatives, but they're still nowhere near as good in snow as winter tires are.

After owning the WRG2 for 5 years, I'm disappointed in the performance of the WRG3 in handling Alberta, Canada winter conditions where temperatures range between -10c to -35c with moderate to heavy amount of snow. The WRG3 is performing at the WRG2's performance after it was 1 1/2 years in. With the WRG2s my anti-lock breaks kicked in only a couple of time the 1st winter, but it's a regular occurrence with the WRG3s and it was only installed new 2 months ago. Not sure what has changed with the WRG3s compared to the WRG2s, and I was looking forward to having these new tires too.

I bought these to replace my old Hakka 4's for my Audi A4 and wanted something that would perform well in the winter as well as all year round in Colorado. What I didn't expect was how incredible the grip is on snow and ice given that they are incredibly smooth while driving. The rolling resistance is better than my summer tyres! Seriously can't believe how nice they feel on dry pavement and knowing I have great performance year round without 2 sets of tyres is fantastic. Highly recommend these to any folks looking for a new set. The compound they are using is amazing. Wait until the temps get really low and go and pinch the tyre tread and compare that with another winter tyre. It's so squishy and pliable and a key ingredient in what makes Nokian a cut above the rest.

I put two of these on my mom's Kia Forte eco last summer to see if they really are as good as they say they are. Well, yes they are! They really prove to be low rolling resistant since the car came with special rolling resistant tires and there is no difference in fuel economy after the change. I was able to compare them with dedicated extreme performance summer and sport winter tires and while they do not handle as good in the summer as the true summer tires of my car, they do compare favorably to the rest of the all season tires I have tried. In the rain and snow they actually surprised me. They truly are as good as my dedicated winter tires in the snow. Not as good on ice, but these are not studdable tires after all. They also made the ride of the car feel a bit softer than it used to be too which is another great benefit. I can't say much about the road noise since I am used to driving with noisy tires, but with the amount of tread they have I am certain they will last a long time. I will be installing those on my next car for sure instead of having to change summer and winter tires all the time.

I purchased these tires in October, 2014 replacing the OEM All Seasons which were simply terrible in the snow and rain. My first impressions on dry pavement are that they have very good grip, not very noisy like others have complained about and extremely good resistance to hydroplaning. On Thanksgiving day we received 11 inches of snow. The WRG3 performed extremely well. Very good traction in the snow. They felt like a high quality winter tire traction wise, without the harsher ride usually associated with winter only tires. There tires are a win, win situation in my humble opinion. Add to the fact that spring / fall tire changeover is no longer required saving 100 dollars a year on that, it is a win, win, win. I highly recommend these tires. I would give 10 stars if I could. Kudos Nokia on a great product. Happy Motoring!

Got a set of these put on while a snow storm was brewing in the NE. Drove 50+ miles home in blowing 3-5" of snow and icy slush conditions on road that were not sanded or plowed. These tires handled impeccably. They go where you intend to and give good feedback of road conditions. This is my 3rd set of WRG's. The extra price is like buying a little extra insurance for winter driving safety.

i was looking for the best all weather tires that I could find and the WGR3 seemed like the best option. I purchased these tires for my Toyota Sienna March 7 and by March 9 I was driving from White Rock BC to Kelowna BC (about 350 km) on the Coquihalla Highway. I experience dry conditions in White Rock and the tire handled great. We hit the Transcanada highway and did not notice any noice increase from my previous tires (Michelin Primacy). We hit Abottsford and heavy rain all the way to Hope. Tires were great in the heavy rain. From Hope to Merritt we had sleet and light slush on highway. Again tires performed excellent. From Merritt and into Kelowna falling snow with snow on the road. Tires were amazing. I was able to pass transport trucks on snow covered roads with ease and confidence (wish I could post a pic to show how bad the roads were). In one trip I experienced pretty much all of the weather conditions. Tires performed excellent. So glad I decided to invest in these tires. If you're thinking about getting these tires stop thinking about it and just get them.

My wife is in the medical field and considered essential personnel, so she has to get to the hospital regardless of the weather conditions. As we live in New England, you can imagine some of the winters we see on the occasion. Once I needed a new set of tires for my front wheel drive Mazda I decided to move from performance all season tires to the all-weather Nokian WRG3s. They're good for every season and perfect for the New England climate. Not only are they keeping me glued to the road in the middle of blizzards, hurricanes, and bad rain storms - I'm passing all wheel drive vehicles left and right without so much as a slip or a slide.

I have over 7,000 miles on my WRG3 tires after buying them in August, 2015. I just drove my 2002 Subaru Forester S Premium from East Lansing, Michigan to Copper Harbor, Michigan and back. I stayed overnight in Houghton, Michigan and my GPS had me turn right onto the steepest street I have ever seen in a city. It was covered by semi-frozen slush and I didn't think I'd be able to drive up the street. I was absolutely shocked that I felt no wheel slip at all and made it up with ease. More importantly I was shocked that on the way back down the same street, they gripped as if the pavement was clear and dry. The next day while driving on U.S. 41 and state route M-26 at speeds of 45 mph - 55mph on very hilly and windy roads. After pulling over and crossing the roads on foot to take pictures of the scenery, I realized that the roads were sheer ice. I had to slide my feet to keep my balance as opposed to walking normally. They also performed very well in snow deeper than 8" on this trip. Their summer performance is excellent and I cannot find a bad thing to say. These tires are quiet, smooth, soak up Michigan's worst pothole roads, and have superior lateral stability compared to other winter tires. I have a 2014 Subaru Impreza with Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 and these WRG3 tires handle better in more winter conditions. I bought these WRG3s fully skeptical of their "all-weather" description, but now I truly believe my days of having two sets of tires are over.

Overall I wasn't happy with them, so I decided to try out the WRG3s. I knew they'd be great in winter because of the WRG2 experience I had, but I didn't want to give up performance in the summer. I like driving quickly through corners etc. I have been very impressed with the performance of this tire. I live in ME, so our winters are miserable, but lately we've had 85 degree weather and the tires are performing wonderfully. Very impressed so far.

I have a 2001 Saab 9-3 Convertible and the WRG3 provided excellent traction in the northern Ohio snows that come often. I can take hills while others are slipping and sliding. It was well worth the investment to have piece of mind knowing you have traction on the road!

I just purchased my fourth set of Nokian tires and I continue to be impressed with the quality of your product. I drove extensively over mountains & wet/icy roads in the Pacific Northwest for several years. I always experienced great traction and control with my Nokian WRG3 tires, even when conditions indicated "chains required" going over Mt. Hood. I now live in Rochester, MN and purchased a new set for my Civic. Same great traction and comfortable ride. I am delighted to see more extensive distribution of your products here in the USA. Thanks for such a great product!

I put a set of these on my 2009 Outback and despite the brutal New England snowfall (one week of which was spent in Boston in the midst of their record breaking winter) they got me through roads that others wouldn't even try. On top of that, their handling of rain soaked and dry pavement was exemplary. I'll be putting a set of these on my daughter's Forester this weekend.

Put these on my '08 Honda Fit. Decided to change size from factory 195/55r15 to 185/60r15 to save money and provide a bit more sidewall for winter. These tires handled all the snow/rain/ice winter in southeast Wisconsin could throw at them without complaint. As impressive as the traction was, the quiet/smoothness of the tires was just as amazing. Now that things have warmed up, the WRG's remain some of the best handling tires I've ever driven. I recommend them to anyone who listens.

I have about 7,500 miles on the tires now and have driven them through enough snow storms to comment on their performance. People who gave these tires bad reviews need to check their expectations. THESE ARE NOT A TRUE WINTER TIRE. However, they do handle the snow better than any all season tire I have driven on. They also are quiet and composed on dry warm roads. Very impressive. Hoping they last past the 50k mile warranty.

I was skeptical about an ultra high performance winter tire. Not anymore. Amazing tires! There is some drop off in performance on my modified 2010 S4 (415 HP etc.) with the WRG3's compared to Michelin Pilot Super Sports for spirited daily driving (on the track would be another matter). That would be expected given the WRG3s are winter tires and the Super Sports are strictly ultra high performance summer ones. Because of the big brake kit on the S4 front wheels, it was necessary to run 255/35 19s. Obviously a narrower tire would provide better snow performance but these 255s nonetheless are impressive. As an avid skier in Colorado, the WRG3s have allowed me to maintain a high level performance for the S4 while confidently dealing with inevitable snow and ice. They have been on my car for some 1500 miles and I have been raving about these winter tires the whole time. If you drive a performance automobile and want to drive it in winter conditions, do not hesitate to buy the WRG3. There is no other tire like it.

Bought a set of the WRG3 tires for our 2006 BMW X3. I have been thinking about the WRG3s for a few years, especially since the previous 2 sets of all seasons we had on the X3 were not great in the snow. And these were premium brands. So, just after I had them installed we had a severe ice/slush/snow storm in Northerm Virginia while going to a family get together in early December (23 car accident on the Capital Beltway), and these tires were amazing on the interstate and on neighborhood roads covered in ice. Traction and braking were inspiring. We then had a 9 inch snow in early January and the tires had fantastic grip in the snow, especially on the hills in our neighborhood and in 3 degree weather. When the snow became packed down and was then a sheet of ice, the WRG3s were again amazing. Just like the marketing video shows, the tread blocks do indeed stay flexible in 0 degree Fahrenheit weather. I am impressed with the handling on dry winter roads, and the tires are exceptionally quiet. I called the Nokian sales folks in Vermont before I purchased these online from an authorized dealer. I wanted to make sure they would hold up in warm summers here with temps in the high 90s. I plan to run them year round. I will update after summer arrives, but if I only get 40,000 miles rather than 55,000 it will be worth it just for the winter safety, performance in the snow and and ice and dry of winter. The quiet and comfort of the tires is impressive, too. Well done Nokian! We need a Nokian dealer here in central Virginia! The tires seem to be an obvious choice for northern US cities. But even for Virginia, I think you will be impressed with the capabilities and all around greatness of these tires. If you do buy online, make sure you purchase from an authorized Nokian dealer. You can call Nokian to find out the 2 web dealers if you don't have a seller nearby. After 3 months and 3000 miles the tires have exceeded my expectations.

Drove the Impala on I-91 in unplowed outside lane for 60 miles without so much as a twitch even when hitting the ridge of snow changing lanes. Tires track confidently in snow as I passed all traffic. In the city many cars were spinning tires while I just motored through. Personally I do not find road noise an issue compared with Yokohama and Michelin tires previously installed on the Merc or the Pirelli P6 Four Seasons on the Impala. Balance is a little finicky with these tires if you expect a mirror smooth ride but very acceptable if you stay on top of it. That means a little vibration at a car-critical speed, e.g. 70 mph on one or 65 mph on the other car. Everything's smooth from 75 up. With a V rating on the Nokians, how can you go wrong for just about any car in New England weather? Impala tire wear after 20,000 miles seems slightly better than Yoko Avid H4S H rated on the Impala. Too soon to tell on Mercury after 4 months. Influenced my friend to uy a set for his 525 BMW and he was very pleased driving in NYC right after the blizzard.

Sure, you can get better specialized tires for either winter or summer. But if you live in an area that gets some good snow in winter, and you want to run one set of tires year round, there is nothing else that comes close to these tires. I am at the MA/NH border and need to be able to commute 40 miles each way to work in almost any conditions, and these tires have allowed me to do that safely year round. A little pricy, but worth every penny.

Wet and snow traction was good and of course dry too. Over time though, the tires have honestly gotten to the point of painfully noisy. We have about 20k on them and while I expect this from a tire at the end of its life, I didnt expect it so soon. Best bet is to get a good all-season tire then swap to the Nokian winter tire for a few months. Then you get best of both.

It was January before I got to test them out due to our mild winter. To be frank, I was not impressed with the traction. I have gotten better traction out of 4 All Season tires. I bought these tires as an option instead of installing dedicated winter tires due to the fact that I drive south during the winter and needed them going through the mountains of Penn and the Virginias but didn't want to have to change tires halfway down to Florida. Very disappointed.

The reviews are spot on when it comes to their performance in winter weather. My friend who works for a tire dealer recommended them. He did say to make sure I rotate them to get maximum mileage out of the. My understanding is these tires are used by the Michigan State Police on many of their vehicles.

I have 3 sets on three Subaru's and they are great. On my Forester we have driven 12,000 miles with only 2/32nd's of wear on the tires.

Great tires in the winter, solid grip, powering through slush, snow, and ice in the rust belt. Good tires in the summer, a bit softer than the performance tires I had, but still good performance even in 80+ degrees. The 50k miles warranty is great, drove about 8k miles the first year, no thread wear at all. Not noticeably noisy, not sure abou the whole low rolling resistance thing. Not as "cool" looking tread pattern as some of the other tires out there, but performance is second to none. After I bought there, I also got a set of Hakka R2's for the family minivan, great too.

After this last road trip where I drove from Seattle to reno is when I really loved them. Driving on a mountain pass in the middle of oregon in the middle of the night when its pouring buckets of rain, its foggy, and there are twists and turns everywhere, and my car did not slip or slide at all. The wrg3 tire makes your car safer to drive anywhere. And I have driven them in the snow as well and they handle as well as any snow tire.

I had a continental DWS 06 which Continental claims is a competitor of Nokian. Continentals are blatantly in my opinion the worst tires made. I returned the Continental under the 60 day test drive and bought the Nokian WRG3. Instantly a great smooth ride and unimaginable traction on the snow. Other people are claiming they hate these tires. I can't possibly understand why, I have been in Nokian for years and quite simply, they are the best riding, safest tires on the market for all weather conditions.

However, I believe most of those statements are by people who have never used the WRG3. I've used the WRG3 asymmetrical tires on a 2006 Honda Civic and now a 2016 Accord V6. The Civic was a FWD with no traction control. The Accord V6 is FWD with traction control and a lot more power. These tires perform as well as a snow tire in the nastiest central New York lake effect snow. Poorly maintained roads with sporadic plowing are the norm here. The winters run the full gamut of varying road conditions and temperatures one might expect. Even starts on an incline can't hold these tires back for long. When the roads get slushy, the tires provide the same level of traction. Braking, acceleration, and stability are excellent even in wet or dry conditions. In the warmer months the WRG3 is not as solid as a summer tire in all out performance aspects. However, they are as good or better in the summer as any all season tire I've used. I've driven both cars with all season tires and it's dangerous in the winter. The All weather tag on the WRG3 is the real deal.

The WRG3s are head and shoulders above premium all seasons in the snow, no comparison. The WRG3s are less capable in the snow as compared to the best premium dedicated snow tyres. I thought that the WRG2s were very good in the snow, slush, wet and dry conditions. However, going into the third year the WRG2s lost snow traction to the point that they were similar to all seasons in the snow. The WRG2s had only 14,000 miles on them and had plenty of tread. My feel is that driving the WRG2s in the summers at temperatures in the mid-80’s deg F, degraded the tyre compound. I noted that the WRG3 tread compound is much stiffer than the WRG2s, also the tread pattern is less aggressive as compared to the WRG2s. So, I bought the WRG3s in the hope that the stiffer tread compound will hold up better over time (the WRG3s have a substantially higher UTQG rating as compared the WRG2s). I am very happy with the performance of the WRG3s. The WRG3s have similar performance to the WRG2s in fresh light snow, fresh heavy snow and slush. The WRG3s have better performance in the packed snow and cold wet conditions. The notable difference between the WRG2s and WRG3s is that the WRG3s are a low resistance rolling tire. So the WRG3s have a much stiffer sidewall and therefore corners much better. In addition, I’m getting 5% better fuel economy in the winter and 8% better fuel economy during fall, spring and summer..........very impressive. The only downside for the WRG3s is that they are louder than the WRG2s. The noise is substantial when the tyres are new however after about 500 miles the WRG3s have become notably quieter, so I’d say that they are now only about 20% noisier than a premium all season or the WRG2s. Considering the substantial fuel economy savings and better cornering ability, the moderately increased noise is not an issue. Lastly, the WRG3s that I have were manufactured in Russia and not Finland. Some may have a concern that their WRG3s were not made in Finland. It’s not an issue the Russian made tyres are perfect........Nostrovia !

I have had WRG3 tires for over a year now and have used them in Montana to California, so complete opposite weather conditions. I have driven back and forth from the South and North of the USA and I feel comfortable driving them in Winter and Summer conditions. Even with only a two wheel drive car I think they grip pretty well. I have put about 10,000 miles on them and I do not see any unusual wear. They ride smoothly and are not noisy or rough like some other winter tires. I purchased these tires because I move around a lot and got tired of hauling two set of tires around for each season. The truck had 189,000 kms and I have just replaced them at 239,000 kms. They have been "done" for awhile so, I would say they probably only lasted 40-45,000 kms. When replaced, the front tires were cupping and the rear were completely "done". If these tires were not as expensive as they in fact were, I might not be as disappointed. If I had spent another 300-400 dollars I could have purchased a set of quality dedicated winter tires AS WELL AS a quality set of all season (summer) tires. One persons opinion but, for the money these tires were not a good value at all and would not likely consider NOKIAN in the future.

Great snow tire! When I moved to southern Maine (a little less snow), I bought the WRG2's and then the WRG3's. This is my second set of G3's. Compared to the G2's, the G3's give a better ride, are better in dry/wet/summer conditions, and handle better. The two are about the same in slush (excellent). However, I think the G2's were a little better overall on snow and ice. That being said, the G3's are still better on snow/ice than any 'regular' all-season tire would be. The G3's were quiet at first. But I have noticed a slight increase in tread noise over the last month or two. I have had this set since last November. They are wearing well and should last a while yet. But if the tread noise increases, I may need to replace them sooner. I am satisfied with these tires and will likely buy them again. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because their snow/ice performance is a bit less than the G2's of happy memory. I might have given the G3's 4.5 stars, if I had that option.

                                                                                                        Was this review useful?

I found no difference in the noise or comfort level between the two brands. In heavy rains the WRG3 tires goes through pools of water along the curves without hydroplaning which is something I cannot say about the other tires. With the recent cold weather and snow, the WRG3 worked as good if not better than the dedicated winter tires I had on my previous car. While others struggled to get moving through snow pact intersections or up hills the WRG3 gets me moving or brings me to a stop without any fanfare. I would hesitate recommend these tires to anyone.

At one point, the temperature dropped 25 degrees and the rain was so bad that 1/2 the cars parked on the side of the road and the other half went in the slow lane. I kept going at the speed limit, not feeling any problems. At some other time, I had a near miss (dry pavement) and I only had to decide how fast to break so that the guys in the back wouldn't rear end me. I haven't had a chance to try in winter yet, but excelled in wet and summer conditions (which was my fear.. that summer driving wouldn't be too bad). Also fairly quiet on the road.
