Nokian Tyres debuts UHP all-season tire designed for luxury and performance

Available to consumers in North America in early 2017

Colchester, VT – Nokian Tyres today announced its new zLine all-season (A/S) tire, designed to perform safely and precisely in variable conditions. Available for passenger cars and SUVs, the Nokian zLine A/S tires are crafted for fast driving and comfort throughout the year.

Nokian zLine A/S

This premium all-season tire provides excellent mileage and fuel saving benefits and responds well to changing road conditions. The tire remains reliable even at high speeds and withstands the stress caused by poor roads. “The new Nokian zLine A/S immediately responds to steering, which is an essential requirement for safe operation at the extreme limits. In addition to the precise handling, these advances in technology also manifest themselves in the commendable driving comfort and durability of the tyre, explains Olli Seppälä, Product Development Manager for Nokian Tyres.

Excellent handling and stability

The stiff outside shoulder stabilizes the handling of the rigid tread pattern on wet and slushy roads especially during dangerous hydroplaning. The contoured groove corners provide additional support during cornering and lane changes, which allows the Nokian zLine A/S to maintain balanced road contact at all times. The 3D siping actively binds the tread blocks together, improving the handling of this high-performance tire.

The Cooling Edge technology provides more efficient cooling to the hottest parts of the tire, improving both handling and durability.

Safety in all seasons

The polished longitudinal and transversal grooves effectively remove water and slush from between the road surface and the tire and also work to maximize grip on wet and slushy roads.

The Dynamic Traction Boost Tread Compound was specially tailored for demanding use at higher speeds. The new rubber compound improves wet grip and saves fuel. The functional full silica compound adapts to changes in temperature, resulting in excellent wet grip every day of the year. The new rubber compound can also withstand the stress from rough asphalt, which results in good wear resistance.

Controlled driving comfort

The Comfort Base Compound below the tread surface also softens the impacts during driving, making the tire light and comfortable to drive even on bumpy or grooved roads.  A special, sturdy Clinch Rubber Compound was also developed for the bead area of the tyre. The innovation also effectively minimizes interior noise, since it dampens the vibrations from the tire body, preventing them from passing into the tire and further inside the vehicle. This Silent Groove Design innovation also reduces the interior noise and external rolling noise of the vehicle.

The strong High Tensile Steel belt structure makes the structure light but hard, which can be felt as precise handling during evasions and lane changes, even at higher speeds. The tough structure improves mileage and effectively prevents cuts caused by curbs.

The new Nokian zLine A/S is also available for SUVS. Tailored stability for SUV use,the carefully selected and tested structural solutions make the Nokian zLine A/S SUV calm to drive. The tread compound is even stiffer than in the passenger car model, which makes the sturdy SUV version especially balanced to handle. The service life is also improved by the unique Nokian Aramid Sidewall technology, which reduces the sidewall damage that is common to SUV drivers.

The zLine A/S tires come fitted with Nokian’ s Driving Safety Indicator on the center rib which lets indicates what percentage of tread depth remains.

Its comprehensive product family is comprised of 25 products in sizes from 16 to 20 inches and the speed category W (up to 168 mph). Retail sales of the product will begin in North America in late 2016.
