Nokian Tyres expands distribution network, opens new facility in Quebec

Colchester, Vermont - Nokian Tyres, the world’s northernmost tire manufacturer, announced today the opening of a new distribution center near Montreal, Quebec.

The 130,000-square-foot facility, located outside of Montreal in the city of Longueuil, will be the sixth distribution center for Nokian Tyres in North America, and can store up to 200,000 tires. The location will initially receive around 20 shipments per week with distribution set to begin in September.

“This new location will increase our capacity and efficiency in North America and shows our commitment to Quebec, one of our largest and most important markets,” declared Tommi Heinonen, president of Nokian Tyres North America. “As we continue to grow the Nokian Tyre brand, it is vital that we maintain strong distribution capabilities so our products are available to our customers wherever they are located.”

This is Nokian Tyre’s first distribution center in Canada and will service the local Quebec market along with customers across Canada and the United States. The facility will be managed by Xpedient Logistics, who as a third party logistics organization specializes in tire warehousing and supply chain coordination across Canada and the US.

"Xpedient is a strong partner for us as we have experienced significant success in the past working with them,” added Heinonen. “They are a partner we can trust and an expert in this industry."

The announcement marks another step forward for Nokian Tyres in North America, as the manufacturer based in Finland has seen strong year-over-year growth in both Canada and the US and recently increased its Albany, New-York warehouse capacity by 150%.

“Expanding our distribution network, especially in Canada, is an important step as we increase operations throughout North America,” Heinonen concluded. “We will continue to grow our footprint and product offerings as we move forward.”
