Nokian Tyres Named 2018 Best Places to Work in Vermont

Colchester, VTVermont Business Magazine and the Vermont Chamber of Commerce recently announced Nokian Tyres was named one of the 2018 Best Places to Work in Vermont.

The statewide survey and award, managed by the Best Companies Group, is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Vermont, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. The evaluation process is comprised of two steps and the results are broken down into three categories: small, medium and large businesses.

Part one evaluated each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. Nokian Tyres prides itself on being a life driven company with a mission to provide peace of mind in all conditions. Its strong company culture, also known as the Hakkapeliitta Spirit (named after the flagship Nokian Hakkapeliitta winter tires), drives the success of the business through entrepreneurship, inventiveness and team spirit. Nokian Tyres is also recognized as the most sustainable company in the tire business, with recent addition to the DJSI Sustainability Index. In Vermont, Nokian Tyres has supported dozens of local non-profits through employee volunteerism, donations and in-kind product support.

Part two of the process consisted of an employee survey which measured employee experience. Nokian Tyres strives to ensure its workers stay happy, healthy and motivated, as demonstrated with ten employees exceeding 20 years of service and three employees over 30 years of service. The company offers a benefit program that embraces the Scandinavian culture and provides a generous Health and Wellness platform that includes health, dental, vision and several supplemental options. In addition, other popular employee incentives such as subsidized Health Club memberships, profit sharing, team building events and of course, product discounts that have led the company to an average tenure of nearly ten years. Even with the longevity of the employees, Nokian Tyres is a high growth company, adding 21 employees in the last year and 31 employees over the last two years.
