Nokian Tyres Opens New Illinois Warehouse to Accommodate Increased Production, Demand

The 507,000 square-foot facility will support the company’s growth in North America

SHOREWOOD, Ill. – Nokian Tyres opened a new tire storage warehouse in Illinois this month that will help the company keep up with growing demand in North America and increased production at its factory in Dayton, Tennessee.

The global tiremaker opened the 507,000 square-foot facility in Shorewood, Illinois in mid-May after outgrowing its previous space in the Chicagoland area; the new facility is double the size of the old warehouse and can store up to 600,000 tires. The company partnered with Xpedient Logistics to make the move in just 26 days and without a service interruption.

“Our new Shorewood warehouse will increase our storage capacity at an important time in our growth journey,” said Nokian Tyres North America Head of Supply Chain Christy McDaniel. “The move to a larger facility was a seamless team effort, and we’re pleased we were able to complete the process without disrupting deliveries to our customers.”

Nokian Tyres has increased its North American supply in recent years after the opening of its first North American factory in late 2019. The company aims to use its Dayton Factory to shorten product delivery lead times and introduce tires that are tailored to the needs of North American drivers – and the growth ambitions of tire dealers.

The inventor of the winter tire, Nokian Tyres also makes all-season and all-weather tires to meet the needs of the North American market. At its network of 11 warehouses, it stores tires produced at its Dayton Factory and its other global production facilities.
