Can winter tires be used in the summer?

Using winter tires in the summer is not recommended, even if they are non-studded, as they have a softer rubber compound and different tread structure than summer tires. Tires designed strictly for winter roads do not function safely in the summer. Also due to the compuonding the wear of winter tires of hot summer days is more rapid.
