Nokian Tyres, POWDR Are Planting Trees for Season Passes Sold in 2023

The 2023 “Buy a Pass. Plant a Tree. Play Forever” program eligibility ends when season passes hit full price at each resort

DAYTON, Tenn. – Guests who purchase season passes to select POWDR resorts while passes are still offered at discount rates will have a tree planted on their behalf by Nokian Tyres and POWDR. For the third season in a row, the companies have joined forces to plant a tree for every 2023/2024 season pass sold at participating resorts. The 2023 program was announced in April and applies only to those season passes purchased during the resort’s discounted price windows.

In the first two years of the “Buy a Pass. Plant a Tree. Play Forever” program, the partners have helped restore hundreds of acres of deforested land and supported efforts to combat soil erosion, the effects of a beetle epidemic and the ongoing degradation of riparian areas across the United States.

“As ski and snowboard season approaches, we’re excited to join POWDR in helping make journeys to the slopes safer and support our journey to a safer world,” said Nokian Tyres North America Director of Marketing Hans Dyhrman. “It’s great to see so many winter sports enthusiasts join us in this mission.”

POWDR Vice President of Partnerships Meghan Matschke added, “With just a few weeks left in this year’s program, we hope season pass holders make their purchase decisions soon to maximize the total trees planted. It has been wonderful to be able to see a real, direct impact in forests that need our reforestation support the most, and we hope to make a meaningful impact with this year’s trees as well.“

POWDR’s Play Forever sustainability initiative has resulted in millions of dollars in contributions inside the communities where the company operates, tens of thousands of pounds of trash and plastic collected annually through ongoing recycling programs and mountain cleanups, and millions of kilowatt-hours of electricity harnessed each year by solar energy at its resorts.

These and other sustainability activities at POWDR’s nine North American resorts support the company’s stated mission to allow future generations to live balanced lives full of adventure.

Nokian Tyres strives to be an industry leader in sustainability. Its North American factory in Dayton, Tennessee is the only tire production facility in the world to earn LEED v4 Silver certification. One hundred percent of production waste at the factory is recycled or reused. More than 90 percent of Nokian Tyres products are in the lowest categories of rolling resistance, helping drivers minimize emissions and get the most out of each fuel fill-up.
